How We Can Find Out Address By Mobile Number? Are you looking for the name and address of a mobile number from which you have received a missed call? Are you interested in getting the name of the person who made the call? How can i locate the personal address by mobile number? Would you please help me find the address for the following mobile number?

The answer to the above questions is 'NO' i.e.in India you cannot get the details of the name or address of the person behind the mobile.

Claims of websites to provide details of the caller!

There are many websites and mobile applications which claim to give you such details. However, all of them fall short by providing only Telecom operator name and the name of the circle. Even these details may be wrong with the users who have used the Mobile Number Potability (MNP) feature. These websites will continue showing you the original service provider. For example if your original service provider was MTS, and you have switched over to Airtel, the details from such a website will continue to show as MTS.

This means no one can claim that they can give you the details of the mobile user.

What is the purpose of this article?

This article is to educate that as of now there is no way/provision by which you can get the details of the caller. The only exception is by way of lawful complaint to the Police.

In the year 2007, the Department of Telecommunications (DoT) has asked the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (Trai) to furnish its recommendations to get the mobile service providers in the country to launch mobile number directories. There has not been any decision on this either by DOT or by TRAI, and the matter is still under consultation.

What are the problems in not being able to track the caller details?

As can be seen the mobile users in India tend to keep their numbers private and this would become a major concern for mobile operators and their customers. The mobile company claims that such a directory would be used by marketing companies to harass the people thereby escalating the existing problems of mobile junk calls.

What do you think? Should there be a Mobile Number Directory in India? Will such a directory be invasion of privacy of the mobile user?

Please post your views.

I dont support this. Mobile numbers should be kept hidden, as if it is disclosed, specially in a country like ours, there will be increased number of harrasments, marketting harrasment, and a lot other social issues can develop.
Land line operators already publish the directory. Any concerns connected with mobile phones are equally attached to landline phones also. While operators may be concerned, this facility afforded by them puts the general public at a disadvantage. Like if we urgently want to contact a person, earlier all we had to do was to refer the directory. However, now there is no such option available and one has to try to locate someone who knows the number. As for telemarketers, they manage to get hold of all the details anyway. Aslo after the introduction of the DNC facility, this concern has lost its relevance. The telecom companies should now at least offer online search for mobile numbers

Yes, Mobile is something we carry on our hand, and revealing our identity would invade the privacy of ours. Those who want to know the identity of the anonymous caller, can very well approach Police.

Even the landline directory is published after confirmation by BSNL
This article makes clear the ever generated question of tracing the mobile phone.

Thanks for sharing. Very good initiative indeed by National Concerns.
I wonder how the public directory of so many users will be created? It is better not to put the public directory. But Government can start a paid authorised search directory for those cases which are blacklisted or for which the complaints are received.

Mobile No. directory is a welcome move however caution should must be exercised in its availability and usage , although there is guideline in force by TRAI for restriction in terms of DND and categorization one wishes to get promotional materials ; however some where it also prudent to have a directory for meaningful use and assistance.
i m not satisfied by u bocoz their is a huge business of selling data of mobile numbers with all persional details in india that is used for merketing if only police have a right to hold this data then how can it come in market
The data available with tele marketers are made available by service providers and other online agencies by which we sign up with our personal details. It is not available legally.

But yes its true that tele marketers do have lot of personal data with them
now a days mobile number is there for every one and the details of the user should be provided and rules should be made that no person should misuse it also when the people know that their details are easily known to other person they don't do such misuses... it is very clear

when a person feel that his identity is hidden only he may encouraged to do wrong things. If every one knows that his identity is available easily most of the wrong things will be controlled and cell phones will be in proper use
A directory is a must. As with land-line directories, a subscriber should have the option of not being listed in the directory of Mobile phones. Also all cell phones must have provision for a blocked list where in subscriber can block calls/ messages from any number.

but som ppl guraantee to give u informatiom
Yeah, a mobile directory (service provider wise) should be published. What is wrong in publishing a mobile directory ? I think the service provider should take the necessary permission from the customer who agrees to publish their number in the directory. If any one who wishes to create nuisance can do so. For that there is law. But the same directory will helps other a lot. That is sure.
no mobile directory should not published....
I agree That it will be a problem when the matter is about privacy....but there should be somthng lyk if u hav received many msgs dissturbing u nd many calls as well as you the person who is getting disturbed should know who is doing all that...nywy proof will be there on call logs and in inbox.........
yas a mobile directory (service provider wise) should be published. because so many studentes are facing problem with missed cals and wrong message . so governmant want to do somthing for this...!
yes i am really observed and get knoledge about lawful for mobile Claims
Thank you

even as of now there is no mobile directory we are getting so many disturbing calls.if any directoru willl be maintained then the condition even worsens and it might create social issues as well.
yes it's best to have directory with perfect registration then there will be no harassment or blackmail calls.........
As per my knowledstrongllyge WE can find out d name of d sim card holder name , by jus filing an N.C report to the local jurisdiction , and and get a copy of that N.C report can claim to the telecom 's gallery to disclose d name.
And about to publishing of mobile no. dictionary, it may utilise in wrong sence.. so i strongly suggest that it should not be publish on internet..

India is country with narrow minded people, and one must understand and accept it.I believe we shouldn't encourage such an provision to get the details of a person with its details from the mobile number. Privacy is something which is of utmost importance for any country, so the details of the person should be kept confidential from the public.
Rather i would suggest to maintain a national record of the telecom users with the Central government which would help them to access the information of the Individuals and solve the critical matters and cases.
But again I doubt in maintaining such a detailed record, as you know in India we can be certain that if u have power and money you can do whatever you want and fetch the information you like.
So Could any 1 suggest a better option of securing the Information of the users from the public.

A directory is a must. As with land-line directories, a subscriber should have the option of not being listed in the directory of Mobile phones. Also all cell phones must have provision for a blocked list where in subscriber can block calls/ messages from any number.
An exhaustive online directory of all mobile numbers provides the facility for locating the caller and the receiver. The same model used for the landline directory could be put to use. If we are not haunted on our landline numbers we could expect the same from our mobile numbers too. And in such a case only the people who really need to contact us would bother to do so.

Transparency will do more good than harm.Suppose someone is calling at your female relative mobile or giving some msg or misscall but what options do u have. only one to go to the police and everybody knows how much busy our police is. even where there is important cases police don't investigate(police may have some valid reason lack of resources etc) and culprit knows that you can not trace him/her easily. so i will suggest that there should be an online directory but with some precaution and Rules.

1. An online directory Should be created with mobile holder name and address, with his/her valid identity Proof copy, Address Proof and Photo of the person.
2. People should be allowed to get the detail through mobile no. but as Paid Service and proper identification.(payment through debit card, net banking etc).it will prevent people to unnecessarily getting detail of any person.A record should be maintain that who got the detail of whom and A sms should be sent instantly to the person whose detail has been seen.

3. People Should be allowed to hide their Detail From that online directory by paying fee . this facility will save the celebrities and other important people from getting call from unknown people. i think they will not have problem to pay because no . of such people will be very less.

4. A person can get the Detail of the Person whose Detail has been hidden because of celebrity status or important person if he/she is getting mischief call from that no. by complaining about mischief calls by giving his/her call detail to Telecom Department.

5.one Person maximum 3 mobile no.policy should be there.

6.online directory can provide many useful service. such as call recording if any one wants to register his/her conversation because this facility is being given in many handsets.

7. call detail history etc value added service can be provided. at single website that will be for online directory.

Some other Rules may be framed but transparency is must.
In my view the directory should not be allowed, as most of us carry the mobile phone along with us all the time. Once the person knows the number, there is no limit of privacy and exposure we would be put into. Any which way, the goons knows how to hide the number, and in course of time they would perhaps find another way to bypass the law and still continue doing the same.

Further, who is going to maintain such database? I think this is the reason why this has been dumped by the DOT.

online directory should be for checking address and identity from a mobile number, not for getting mobile no. from a name etc.
8953244684 From this number I am getting abuse .It's very bad that person says.also he disturb my sister at midnight by calling and always he call by different numbers
sir, 9662465710 this number user any time call my mobile and distrub to me

bed language use and misguide me for my family mamber please give me
proper address and name above user
The theory is that mobile numbers and their addresses are not available except through the process of law. In actual practise it costs a bribe of about Rs. 500 or so to get all the details of a mobile user-- name, address, calls made etc. Have been a victim of one such mistrust from a mobile company. A complaint to the police that my privacy had been invaded and much distress caused to me over many months did not yield any results.

Its Really,Today Safety Is Most Important Coz Any Body Can Use The Privacy Of The Person.
So,Mobile Phone Directly Should Not Publish In India.
We can Publish the Details Current status.

Land line operators already publish the directory. Any concerns connected with mobile phones are equally attached to landline phones also. While operators may be concerned, this facility afforded by them puts the general public at a disadvantage.
